Croeso - Welcome

I am really pleased to be able to write this short introduction for our school website. I was born and raised in the Cynon Valley and I have spent the past 24 years working within special education, both in mainstream and special schools, mainly across South Wales, having started my teaching career in Gloucester back in the late 1980s. I was appointed to Trinity Fields in May 2012 and officially took up my position on 1st September 2012.

On behalf of our pupils, staff and governors I would like to take this opportunity of welcoming you to our website. Trinity Fields School, situated in the community of Ystrad Mynach, is a busy, forward-looking school that provides education and specialist facilities for pupils aged 3 to 19 with a wide range of learning difficulties.

Trinity Fields School and Resource Centre is a purpose built school which opened in 1998 and offers our pupils many unique and innovative features in order to develop their skills.

First and foremost children and young people are at the heart of all that we do at Trinity Fields. We are committed to providing the very best learning opportunities for them as well as to becoming a Rights Respecting School. We will use our website to keep you up to date with our progress.

At Trinity Fields we aim to promote learning, self-esteem and confidence of all our pupils by providing rich learning opportunities for them to develop their skills and understanding, and creating an exciting school community which is child-centred, empowering and inclusive.

We work with all of our partners to provide an attractive learning environment, and we  ensure that our dedicated staff team are highly skilled and have access to specialist equipment and outstanding facilities to meet pupils’ needs. These integrated facilities  provide pupils with the very best learning opportunities and resources which support our vision to become a Centre of Excellence.

We are all committed to developing a whole school  “TEAM” ethos; this  guides all aspects of our work. I hope that our website gives you some insight into our work but having said this I would encourage you to visit our school as it is impossible to capture our ethos and unique character in words and photographs.

On behalf of pupils, staff and governors I look forward to welcoming you to Cae’r Drindod - Trinity Fields.

With my best wishes,

Ian Elliott MBE
Headteacher
